Meet Dr. April Clift

I grew up throughout the southeastern United States, and while frequent moves helped me develop an appreciation for the uniqueness of people, the near-constant state of starting turned me into a keen observer of people and social groups. I earned my B.A. from Washington University in Saint Louis, where I also led an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) intervention team. This early clinical experience reinforced my belief in the power of behavioral techniques for combatting psychological challenges.

After a two-year stint as a research coordinator learning all about the fallibility of memory, I studied psychology and emotion science at the University of South Florida, earning my Master's and PhD in Clinical Psychology. I completed an additional three years of supervised clinical and research training in Chicago, with a focus on evidence-based therapy for anxiety disorders and complex trauma.

My early career was dedicated to providing therapy to Service Members and Veterans with a wide range of diagnoses and a high degree of complexity. I quickly discovered an unanticipated passion for managing high-performing teams of professionals, integrating clinical and leadership skills. As organizational priorities evolved, I found myself further and further from the work I loved and decided to build something of my own.

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy yoga, traveling, reading, SCUBA diving, and generally just being outside. During your sessions, you may also catch a glimpse of my canine assistant, George.
